SEPULTURA Begin Recording New Album
August 2, 2005Brazilian thrashers SEPULTURA have entered Trama Studios in São Paulo, Brazil to begin recording their new studio album, "Dante 05", the follow-up to 2003's "Roorback". The band have previously used Trama Studios to record the "Revolusongs" EP, which included cover versions ranging from MASSIVE ATTACK to HELLHAMMER to JANE'S ADDICTION, and was included in the limited-edition digipack version of "Roorback".
Working under the watchful eye of producer Andre Moraes, whom they've previously worked with on various Brazilian film soundtracks, the new album "is like a metal soundtrack for a movie, based on 'The Divine Comedy', but making a parallel with the days and situations we live today," says guitarist Andreas Kisser.
The ten or eleven songs that will make it to the finished album are, as previously reported, all based on the epic poetic masterpiece "The Divine Comedy" written by Italian author Dante Alighieri in the early 14th Century. The three main components of "The Divine Comedy" are Dante's descriptions of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise.
"Dante 05" is expected in erly 2006 via SPV Records.
As previously reported, SEPULTURA drummer Igor Cavalera will be collaborating with hardcore Brooklyn rapper NECRO on a track for NECRO's upcoming release, "Circle of Tyrants".
